Sign up for sports fest

MIDLOTHIAN sports clubs are being encouraged to sign up for this year’s East of Scotland Festival of Sport.

The festival, which takes place from September 1-14, is a joint initiative of councils in the east of Scotland, including Midlothian, West Lothian, East Lothian, Edinburgh, Scottish Borders and Fife, and is also supported by sportscotland.

Last year’s festival saw a wide range of Midlothian clubs take part, with many increasing membership as a direct result.

Midlothian Council’s deputy leader, councillor Owen Thompson, said: “Last year’s festival was a great success and this year’s couldn’t come at a better time, just after the Olympic Games.”
