Search on for treasure hunt teams

AN Edinburgh Napier University lecturer is inviting teams to sign up for a treasure hunt with a twist as part of this year’s Fringe.

Coderace is a location-based game which sees teams of four battle it out to claim a series of sites across Edinburgh using an app on their smartphones.

Travelling by bike or by foot, teams use the app to guide them to clues which they must solve in order to unlock a code which then wins them the site.

The team which holds the most locations by the end of the two-hour game wins.

It has been developed by Brian Davison from the School of Computing, who first created Coderace for his students as an example of how technology can either help or hinder groups working together.

The game will take place on August 4 from noon and will start from Napier’s Craiglockhart campus.
