Scots log on to offer ref a child and teacakes

CHEEKY members of the Tartan Army are trying to charm their way into Austrian referee Konrad Plautz good books ahead of Scotland's crunch tie with France.

Hundreds of supporters have left messages on his website in the hope of currying his favour.

Mr Plautz was held responsible by some Celtic fans for the hoops Champions League exit to AC Milan last year, when he failed to give a penalty. However, Scots who have logged to www.konradpalutz.com have assured him all his forgiven.

One Edinburgh supporter wrote: "Wow, looking good Konrad. Refreshing to see a ref in such fine shape. You must really work out.

"Keep up the good work. Hang on, aren't you taking charge of our game in Paris . . . wink, wink."

And in case that was not enough to sway him, one female Tartan Army member said: "I told him I would have his baby if he gave us a last minute penalty."

Another said: "I've offered him a lifetime's supply of Tunnock's Teacakes in return for a penalty."
