Scotland’s weather: Snow, sleet and rain ahead
HEAVY snow showers that hit the west of Scotland yesterday are expected to drift across to the east of the country today but fall mostly as rain.
Forecasters warned rain and freezing overnight temperatures predicted for the east last night were likely to lead to icy roads this morning.
But those in the east can expect to see light flurries of snow on Sunday following reports of a large area of snow heading west, which is then expected to turn eastwards.
Dave Clark, forecaster at the Met Office in Aberdeen, said Scotland would experience mixed weather over the next few days.
“While there was heavy snow in the Central Belt yesterday and smaller amounts in Aberdeen and Dumfries and Galloway it was mostly ‘sunshine and showers’ everywhere else. It’s all to play for at the moment.”
