Salmon up for auction

A CARVED wooden model of the biggest salmon ever landed in Britain is to be sold at an auction in the Capital.

The 64lb fish was reeled in by angler Georgina Ballantine in 1922 and is expected to sell for £6000.

It will go under the hammer during the sporting sale at Bonham’s, on Queen Street, on November 7.

Henry Baggott, of the auction house, said: “This model represents one of the most sought-after fishing memorabilia items for anyone who has ever cast a line in the water hoping for a bite.”
