Roxburghe rebranded in new deal
One of Edinburgh’s leading hotels has announced plans to rebrand under the Crowne Plaza name.
Paragon Hotels, owner of The Roxburghe in Charlotte Square, has struck a franchise agreement with the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), paving the way for the hotel to be retitled as Crowne Plaza Edinburgh – The Roxburghe.
The hotel, which has been owned by Lancashire-based Paragon Hotels for 15 years, has undergone significant developments since 2008, including a £7 million renovation of its reception area, lounge and all 199 bedrooms.
IHG owns more than 4,000 hotels across the world, including the Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn chains.
Robert Shepherd, IHG’s chief development officer for Europe, said: “Significant investment is being made to ensure that Crowne Plaza Edinburgh can help guests be at their best.”
Marcello Ventisei, the hotel’s general manager, said: “With the added stature of now being a four-star Crowne Plaza property, I believe this will elevate the hotel further.”
The franchise agreement is expected to see improvements to the Roxburghe’s restaurant menu.
