Robbery is a case for Hamish Macbeth

RESIDENTS in the picturesque Highland village that was the setting for the TV police series Hamish Macbeth have finally fallen victim to a real crime.

Northern Constabulary said a “significant four figure sum” was taken from a home in Plockton, Wester Ross.

The area has so little crime the residents felt safe in leaving several thousand pounds in cash in their house, prompting Northern Constabulary yesterday to remind home owners that thieves can strike anywhere – even in Plockton.

The BBC filmed the police series in Plockton in the 1990s.
