Roadside arrest as officers catch driver with cannabis

LOTHIAN and Borders Police recovered 95kg of cannabis, with a street value of £280,000, after pulling over a car on the motorway.

Officers arrested and charged a 47-year-old man following the discovery.

A car was stopped on the M74 just north of Abington Service Station at around 4.15pm yesterday, following assistance by officers from Strathclyde Police. Cannabis resin was found inside.

An amount of white powder, which is being sent for analysis, was also found at an address in Bathgate.

The man was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court.
