Road repair work begins to fill in cracks

WORK is due to begin on repairing a key stretch of road between Dalkeith and the Capital which has resulted in a mile-long diversion for
commuters.

A major section of the Old Dalkeith Road was closed last July after subsidence caused a series of mystery cracks to appear along a 100ft stretch.

Midlothian councillor Bob Constable said: “We said we were hopeful of fast-tracking this work as soon as we got the results of a specialist ground investigation, and we’ve been able to do that.”
