Richey pens life story from behind bars
FORMER death-row prisoner Kenny Richey is writing an autobiography while on remand at Saughton Prison.
He says he is using his spare time to write up his story and has found it helpful.
He said: "There's not much to do all day so I thought I might as well put my time to good use.
"Writing things down has actually been really helpful and I feel better for doing it. It's something I plan to focus on when I get out."
Richey is on remand for an alleged assault on a man in the Capital. He believes being jailed again – after 21 years on death row – is a "blessing in disguise".
He said: "I know I have been nave since getting home, but can assure everyone that genuinely cares for me I have learned the error of my ways.
"I know some people will be sceptical, but I can guarantee I am deadly serious. I am 100 per cent committed to starting over again and making people proud of me."
Richey says he is planning to check himself into Ailsa Hospital, Ayrshire, for psychiatric care when he gets out after being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.
He said: "I have realised this is a major factor in why my life spiralled out of control."
