'Resilience' encouraged in city
ORGANISATIONS throughout Edinburgh will take part in a four-day series of events on how to deal with emergencies in the city.
The "community resilience week", which takes place from today until Thursday, will bring together businesses, public agencies and the voluntary sector to discuss ways of being prepared for major disruptions.
Lothian and Borders Police, the City of Edinburgh Council and the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce have organised the events.
Presentations and seminars led by local and national experts will cover a range of topics, including counter-terrorism, swine flu and data security.
Justice secretary Kenny MacAskill said: "This is a powerful example of joint working between a wide range of partners."
