'Relief' for Moffat over brain scare
EAST Lothian Labour MP Anne Moffat today spoke of her relief at learning her latest medical scare was not another brain haemorrhage.
Ms Moffat was taken to St Thomas's Hospital, close to the House of Commons, last week after being taken ill.
Doctors initially suspected a recurrence of the bleeding in the brain that saw her spend ten days in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary just two months earlier. But Ms Moffat said they had found it was a low level of cortisone that was causing her to pass out. She was given medication before being allowed out and returned home.
Today she said: "Hopefully that's me on the mend. But they're keeping a close eye on me. It's a big relief. It was scary at the time and it's still serious, but it could have been a lot worse."
Ms Moffat, MP for East Lothian since 2001, said there were problems getting the medication right because she is also diabetic.
She thanked constituents for their good wishes.
