Recycling centre's trick, treat or trash spookfest

CHILDREN can meet creepy crawlies and make spooky masks from scraps at a Hallowe'en event at Seafield Community Recycling Centre.

There will be free and fun food waste-themed activities for all the family at the Waste Education Cabin tomorrow between 11am and 3pm.

Visitors will see crushing machines and trucks, tour the recycling centre and win recycled goodies and prizes.

Councillor Robert Aldridge, the city's environment leader, said: "Trick or Treat will be a fantastic day out for all the family. Exploring the Waste Education Cabin is a great way to learn more about what we can all do to reduce, reuse and recycle."

The event coincides with the autumn launch of the national Love Food Hate Waste Campaign run by the Scottish Waste Aware Group. Research shows that around 587,000 tonnes of food waste is thrown out by Scottish households each year.
