A BID to find doctors and nurses to fill posts at the under-threat children’s ward at St John’s Hospital has been launched by NHS Lothian.

A website, which advertises posts including paediatricians, neonatologists and advanced nurse practitioners, is one of several initiatives aimed at attracting staff. A nationwide shortage of specialists, coupled with a reduction in paediatric trainees, has left the future of the ward in doubt.

An update on the recruitment drive will be given at a meeting of the NHS Lothian board tomorrow.
