Rail chiefs vow to keep 95% of trains running
RAIL bosses have committed themselves to running "95 per cent" of services during strike action planned for next week.
The RMT union has announced industrial action across four days as part of a dispute about "driver-only" trains on the new 300 million Airdrie to Bathgate line.
The union claims that not having guards on the services will compromise safety, a charge denied by ScotRail.
The train operator said that the majority of services would be unaffected by the dispute, with 100 per cent of trains running between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street.
However, there will be a reduced service between Edinburgh and Perth, and minor service changes between Edinburgh and Bathgate, and between the Capital and Newcraighall and North Berwick.
Steve Montgomery, managing director of ScotRail, said: "Our contingency plans are such that we will run 95 per cent of trains.
"However, we have again had to revise some services because of the RMT's bid to cause as much inconvenience as possible."
