Radio station set to relive the festival
THOSE who missed some of the most talked about shows of the festival will be able to catch them again on the radio from this week.
Today, Radio 3 listeners can relive performances by French clarinetist Paul Meyer and Eric Le Sage, who offered a recital of Brahms' sonatas and Martinu's Sonatina and Lutoslawski's miniature Dance Preludes.
The Radio 3 series of programmes launched yesterday with the first Queen's Hall concert for Festival 08 by The Ysae Quartet.
On Thursday, Gabriela Montero's morning recital of Bach, Chopin, Debussy, Schumann and Liszt will be played again. The performance included her virtuoso encore of Flower of Scotland.
Finally, on Friday, tenor Keith Lewis and pianist Melvyn Tan perform Beethoven's song cycle An die ferne Geliebte, as well as songs by Liszt, Janacek and Reynaldo Hahn's gossamer-light L'Air.
