Quacking prizes in race for waterway funds
NEARLY 2000 plastic ducks are to take to the Water of Leith for a special race to raise funds for a winter clean-up of the popular waterway.
Supporters can "buy" a duck for 1 a time, with giant ducks on offer for businesses. They will all be released into the water on September 7, with the speediest quackers scooping prizes for their owners.
The first across the line will win two flights to Europe with flyglobespan, the second will get a free Explorer Pass, giving entry to Edinburgh's top tourist attractions, and third will win a set of Hunter wellies for the whole family.
The last ducks to struggle across the line will win gym passes to help their owners get into shape.
The event will be part of a family fun day at the Water of Leith Visitor Centre in Lanark Road, which will also include stalls, a barbecue and music.
Ducks are available from the Visitor Centre. Log on to www.waterofleith.org.uk/news for more details.
