Pupils show grasp of Europe
PRIMARY schools are set to take part in Euroquiz, a national competition designed to provide information about Europe and the European Union.
Seven primary schools from across West Lothian are taking part in the 2008 event, including P6 pupils from Balbardie, Blackridge, Mid Calder, Our Lady of Lourdes, Seafield, St Joseph's and Williamston primary schools.
The quiz includes topics such as history, economics, geography, basic foreign language skills, politics, music, arts, current affairs, sport, culture, environment, general knowledge and the European Union.
The winners will compete in the final against teams in the debating chamber of the Scottish Parliament in May.
Councillor Jim Walker, culture and leisure leader, said: "This will help showcase the talent and knowledge that exists in our schools."
