Pupils rushed to hospital

TWO girls were rushed to hospital after taking prescription drugs at Musselburgh Grammar School.

Emergency services were called to the campus in East Lothian after the pupils fell ill at lunchtime yesterday.

They were taken to Edinburgh’s Sick Kids’ Hospital by ambulance, but later released.

Another three girls also took the tablets, but did not require hospital treatment.

All the students were aged between 11 and 13.

It is understood one of the girls took the pills from her parents’ medicine cabinet and sneaked them into school.

The alarm was raised after the girls told a teacher they were feeling “sick and dizzy” around noon.

School bosses and Lothian and Borders Police are now reported to be investigating the incident.
