Princes Street 'express lane' bid steps up

A CAMPAIGN to introduce an "express lane" for pedestrians on Princes Street has been launched.

Research carried out in the Capital recently showed that 77 per cent of shoppers in Edinburgh wished they could carry out their retail requirements on the high street quicker.

In response, Nurofen Express has launched a campaign for an express lane on the street, with an online petition already receiving 247 votes.

Psychologist Linda Papadopoulos said: "We're all living life faster than ever before and this study shows the same is true on our high streets. It's not an indulgent treat to go for a leisurely shop anymore as commuters and shoppers tussle to go about their business.

"The recent evolution of 'pavement rage' demonstrates the need for express lanes in an effort to entice people back to the high street and make it a more pleasurable experience for everyone."
