A CHILD has been rushed by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after being knocked down by a vehicle in the village of Portlethen, near Aberdeen.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said officers had been called to attend a “serious road traffic collision” on Hillside Road, Portlethen, this afternoon.

He said: “During the incident, which happened just after 4pm, a child was struck by a vehicle. The child has been taken to hospital by ambulance and there are no details available on their condition at this early stage.

“The parents of the child involved are aware.”

The spokesman added: “Local diversions are being put in place and further updates will be issued as they become available. “
