Police increase number of officers on Lockerbie bombing inquiry

The number of police working on the inquiry into the Lockerbie bombing has been increased.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said the increase was due to the recent change of regime in Libya.

Police investigating the bombing, which killed 270 people when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie on December 21 1988, met Libyan defector Musa Kusa last April. Kusa is thought to have been an intelligence officer when the attack occurred.

Abdelbaset al Megrahi, the only man convicted of the atrocity was released on compassionate grounds in August 2009 after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and returned to Libya. Despite doctors’ claims that he had just three months to live, Megrahi is still alive today.

Libya’s National Transitional Council has said it would co-operate with Scottish prosecutors and police investigating the attack.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary would not reveal how many officers are involved in the investigation, saying it was an “operational matter”.

On the 23rd anniversary of the bombing last month, Scotland’s most senior law officer vowed to bring the perpetrators of the atrocity to justice.

Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland said the idea that Megrahi acted alone was “risible”, and added that he would be “failing in his duty” if he did not find the people who were responsible for the bombing.

These Police Officers have had a holiday lasting now over 23 years, and we are now going to get more officers on the holiday gravy train. They have allegedly convicted the Bomber, the Corrupt Scottish Government and Judiciary are convicted they got the right person, but we all know they convicted an innocent man, but they all say he is guilty, so what are they still investigating, or what are they still trying to cover up, or have they not defeated the ends of justice enough already, are they still trying to make sure the real evidence is truly buried for good. And they made sure that Gaddafi would not testify to the fact that Libya was involved or not. They murdered him so to bury the evidence, I bet the person that murdered Gaddafi was in the employ of the American or British Secret Services. Removed by the Government Censor at the Scotsman.

#3 Charles P. Perchance you are possibly a lawyer looking to open a situation where there is no possible solution , but if you work at it , could be a wee earner for the next twenty years. Mr Megrahi my be able to provide some of the answers as to who ordered it and who carried it out, although he was not possibly involved it is natural to accept that he knew who was, and the whole story what happened. Gadaffi at that time was providing the IRA with weapons and explosives and goodness knows what else. If the parents and partners of those who died in this crash accept the result of the investigation, then any attempt to extend it is only due to the efforts of human rights lawyers or ambulance chasers of the world, who live amongst you.

No. 1, Aye Hector, just sweep it all under the carpet, the wee electronic bitty so readily identified by the FBI, the FBI and CIA operatives freely walking about the well of the Court, 'Advising!' All this in a Scottish Court, no matter where the trial took place. Scottish Justice, as has happened so often recently, was made a laughing stock! I can offer you a blanket to hide your head under!

The truth will never be made public, though it is all online ;)

Why? The original investigation was flawed, however they found a culprit. He denied involvement and the Gaddafi government who may know the answers has gone for a burton. It was maybe not the best example of Scottish legal procedure. With the permission of those involved in the tragedy, it may be worth consigning into the dustbin of history.
