Police put the frighteners on revellers at Hallowe’en

POLICE today issued a warning to revellers attending Hallowe’en parties to stay safe as officers prepare for a busy weekend.

Many venues across the Capital are hosting special events between tomorrow and Sunday, which will result in large numbers of people heading into the city centre.

A “significant” police presence will be on patrol while officers will work with pubs and clubs to remind licensees of their responsibilities for deterring crime on the premises and on the appropriate sale of alcohol.

Inspector Gary Dickson said: “Hallowe’en is always a busy time for police within the city centre and we are committed to ensuring that those who chose to enjoy this weekend’s celebrations do so in a safe and secure environment.

“Members of the public are asked to put their safety first and to drink responsibly so as not to have their night ruined by alcohol. ”
