Police probe after body is found at flats
A MAN’s body has been discovered by a passer-by in the basement area of a block of flats in the Capital.
The man was found in Manor Place, in the West End, at about 11.30am on Saturday.
Police are treating his death as unexplained and have said that inquiries are at an early stage but are calling for anyone with information to contact them.
The pavement outside the property where the body was found, just yards from Shandwick Place, was immediately taped off by police.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said: “I don’t know what’s going on. The police have said they aren’t releasing any information. I would hope it isn’t anything suspicious, this is usually a very quiet street.”
A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “Police were called to Manor Place at about 11.30am yesterday after a member of the public raised concerns about the body of a man they saw lying within the basement area of a block of flats. At present police are at the early stages of their inquiries and the man’s death is being treated as unexplained.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 0131-311 3131.
