Plan for polo fields lodged
CONTROVERSIAL plans to build housing on former army polo fields at Dreghorn have been formally launched by developers.
Taylor Wimpey and Miller Homes have submitted an application for housing on the site. It is thought that around 75 homes – including some affordable housing – would be built.
The city council has twice rejected previous plans for the site and rejected a recommendation by a Scottish Government reporter to designate the land as suitable for housing.
More than 600 residents attended a series of public meetings about the plans that formed part of a pre-application consultation by developers.
Colinton/Fairmilehead Councillor Jason Rust said: "I am certain the local community will work vigorously to oppose the application."
