Phone fault hits Capital

TELEPHONE calls to some city council departments failed to get through yesterday after a fault hit BT’s network in the Capital.

Council staff said emergency and other vital services were not affected, but advised residents to get in touch via 
e-mail.

A BT spokeswoman said the problem was due to a fault in a fibre cable which hit at around 8am but had been repaired by 5.30pm.

She added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
