Pensioner’s death leaves town reeling

THE town of Armadale is in “shock” after the body of a pensioner was discovered in suspicious circumstances, community leaders say.

Police are investigating after 67-year-old man was found dead in his home in Mayfield Drive on Saturday just after 9pm. The death is being treated as suspicious and inquiries are under way in the area to establish the circumstances. A post-mortem will take place in due course.

Armadale and Blackridge councillor Isabel Hutton said: “It is a tragedy. This was somebody’s father, uncle, brother or son. Something like this affects the whole community. Mayfield is the kind of area where most people know most people.”

Detective Inspector Stuart Houston said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of Mayfield Drive from Wednesday to Saturday night, who saw or heard anything suspicious, to contact police.”
