Pensioner killed as garage wall collapses
A 67-YEAR-OLD man died and two others were injured after a garage wall collapsed on top of them.
It is understood that the pensioner went into cardiac arrest following the incident, which occurred in East Calder, West Lothian, at around 12.15pm yesterday.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said he was taken to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh but doctors were unable to save his life.
He added: “Police and the Health and Safety Executive are now conducting a joint investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding this incident.”
Another of the men who was injured by the wall was also rushed to the Royal Infirmary with what are believed to be serious injuries. The other was treated at St John’s Hospital in Livingston for minor leg injuries.
In a separate incident, a 54-year-old man was in a critical condition in the Southern General in Glasgow after he was found with head injuries outside a fish and chip shop in Longrow, Campbeltown, at around 1.30am yesterday.
Strathclyde Police are investigating the incident and have appealed for anyone who saw the man during Friday evening to contact them.
