A PENSIONER suffered leg injuries after being struck by a car in Longstone last night.

The 73-year-old was knocked down by a Vauxhall Astra while crossing the carriageway at Kingsknowe Road North at around 11.40pm.

Paramedics took the injured man to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The motorist involved in the crash is understood to have been charged with careless and inconsiderate driving.
