Parliament is fourth in ugly building poll
THE Scottish Parliament has been voted one of the ugliest buildings in the UK.
Holyrood, which cost almost half a billion pounds to build, came fourth in a list of the top ten buildings people would like to see demolished. It was beaten only by the Birmingham Bullring, Birmingham Central Library and the Angel of the North statue.
The building, designed by the late Catalan architect Enric Miralles, has attracted criticism for its modern design.
A Scottish Parliament spokesman said: "Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but with more than 1.5 million visitors and nine architectural awards, it's clear that many people also rate Holyrood's design highly."
