Parliament remembers Scottish-Polish historic relationship
A MOTION celebrating the historic links between Scotland and Poland has been led by local MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville.
In the run-up to Remembrance Day the motion yesterday commemorated the thousands of Poles who were based in Scotland and fought as Allied troops during the Second World War. It comes in the 70th anniversary year of the first Polish forces arriving in Leith.
Ms Somerville said: "Scotland and Poland have a strong shared history which goes back to the 15th century. We have mutually contributed to each other's cultures and traditions over the centuries, and created an enduring relationship between the nations."
