Packed Mela programme marks Midlothian diversity
A MELA event is to be held in Midlothian to celebrate diversity in the county.
The packed programme includes world music, singing, storytelling, clownstepping, Bollywood dance and folk music from Nitten Folk Club.
There will also be a demonstration of capoeira, a unique Brazilian martial art that combines traditional dance and music, a range of workshops and food from around the world.
Organised by Midlothian Council in collaboration with Health in Mind, the free event takes place on Saturday, March 4 at Loanhead Miners’ Welfare Club from 1pm to 5pm.
The event is supported by NHS Lothian, See Me Scotland, LGBT Healthy Living Centre and Equally Connected.
Councillor Peter Boyes, spokesman for community development, said: “We’ve got a really exciting afternoon in prospect, and I’d like to thank all our performers and participants for their support. The whole community is invited to help us celebrate our diversity.”
