Owner hunt after black pig is found
THE owner of a black pig that has been roaming the West Lothian countryside for more than two weeks is being sought by the Scottish SPCA.
Lynne Farquharson, who lives in Bridgecastle, West Lothian, discovered the young boar wandering on the grass verge of an unclassified road near the B8028, between Armadale and Bathgate, yesterday morning.
Ms Farquharson was able to herd the pig on to her property and into her hay barn.
The pig, which bears no identification tags or tattoos, has been named Cupid.
Ms Farquharson is currently caring for Cupid while the Scottish SPCA makes arrangements to have him moved in line with pig transportation regulations.
Senior Inspector Stuart Murray said: “Initial enquiries have revealed that this pig has been on the loose since January 29 and possibly before.
“He is a young neutered male who is quite lame but otherwise in good bodily condition.
“The fact that he does not have any identification marks suggests that he may have been kept as a pet.”
Anyone who recognises Cupid should call the Scottish SPCA on 03000 999 999.

(and thank goodness a SENIOR inspector is handling this case).
