Orcadians asked for views on town revamp plans

ORCADIANS are being urged to express their views on plans to regenerate capital’s town centre.

A public meeting is to take place at Kirkwall Town Hall on 13 March.

Evelyn Mathershaw, Orkney Council’s Head of Strategic Development and Regeneration Services, said: “The regeneration of Kirkwall is about increasing the prosperity of Kirkwall’s residents and businesses; improving the quality of life for everyone in the community and creating an attractive and sustainable place that we can be proud of.

“We’d really encourage people to come along to give their views”.

She added: “In working towards the successful regeneration of Kirkwall, we need to bring people, businesses and organisations in the community together to increase resources and investment and make the best of external funding.

“We also need to look at how we can make sure that all areas and communities in Orkney can benefit from investment in Kirkwall.”
