Olympics fever rife, says MSP

EAST Edinburgh MSP and Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill has said Olympic fever is rife in Scotland following the success of the torch relay.

Mr MacAskill, who joined local residents as the torch passed Duddingston last month, has also extended his best wishes to lightweight boxer Josh Taylor, who trained at Lochend Amateur Boxing Club.

Taylor, originally from Prestonpans, is set to represent Team GB at the London games. Mr MacAskill said: “Not only has the torch parade showcased our nation’s fantastic scenery to the world, the parade has also given our cities, towns and villages a chance to celebrate some of the inspiring individuals in our
communities.

“In Beijing, the success of our Olympians did us proud and I’m sure that they’ll approach the London games with the same effort and commitment. Good luck to all involved, especially local lad Josh Taylor.”
