SCOTS Olympian Cameron Sharp has spoken of his sadness that his long-term injuries will prevent him from travelling to London to watch his athlete daughter Lynsey compete in the 2012 Games.

The former relay champion was left severely disabled after a car crash 21 years ago and has spent much of his time learning to walk, read and write again.

His 22-year-old daughter will represent Team GB in the 800m race at Olympic Park.

Sharp, 54, described his daughter’s Olympic selection as “déjà-vu”, but this time he will not experience it in the flesh. “It’s a long walk, a flight. I’ve been to my sister’s in London, but I’d be on my own this time. I can watch her here, on the television. It’s a better view.”

Cameron Sharp competed in the 1980 Olympics in Moscow in the 100 and 200 metres.
