Nude model art is the Big Issue for John
THE founder of the Big Issue magazine is to draw a nude life model on stage for his debut show at the Fringe Festival.
John Bird, the Big Issue founder and editor-in-chief, said the show's inspiration was an interview with the national press six years ago.
Facing criticisms and accusation from a journalist, the former art student imagined what it would be like to draw her naked, and whether it would make their conversation more honest.
The result of this is the Naked Bird, billed as "a unique performance", which will see Bird drawing a naked life model whilst discussing his own struggles with honesty.
Mr Bird said: "Drawing is a metaphor for life. It's about constantly making mistakes and revising them in pursuit of the truth. I plan to entertain and provoke by being brutally honest."
The Naked Bird is showing at Jongleurs, the Omni Centre, from August 18-23.
