Nile balloon crash: £830,00 payout for families

THE father of Nile balloon tragedy survivor Mike Rennie yesterday said he was looking forward to being reunited with his son as he returned to the UK.

John Rennie, 81, was speaking as it emerged that the families of the victims of the tragedy would be paid £830,000 in total in compensation by the balloon operator.

Mike Rennie’s wife Yvonne, 48, died in the crash in Egypt along with 18 other tourists as her husband and the balloon pilot were the only two survivors of the incident.

Last night, it was reported that SkyTours, the Luxor-based company which operated the fatal flight, would pay 8.4 million Egyptian pounds in compensation to the victims’ families.
