New air link for the Highlands

A NEW charter service linking the Highlands with Switzerland will begin flying to Inverness from next year. Falcontravel will run a once-weekly Zurich-Inverness service between 15 May and 18 September. The 100-seat aircraft will bring up to 2,000 visitors a year to the area.

The news was welcomed by First Minister Alex Salmond. Speaking at the Tourism Awards, he said: "This is great news. The Highlands and Islands have much to offer."
