Naked female shopper, 32, admits breach of the peace

A WOMAN who walked into a shop wearing only a pair of socks has pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace.

Stunned customers at a Co-op store in Aberdeen watched as Jennifer Bruce, 32, wandered naked into the shop and then walked back to her car on 5 September.

Sheriff Douglas Cusine commented: "I suppose that is one way of getting served if there is a queue," as Bruce pled guilty by letter at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

The court heard the woman had put youngsters into a state of fear and alarm at the shop in the city's Lewis Road. She was said to have walked into the shop in front of 17 youngsters.

A witness, who did not want to be named, said: "I suppose you could see it as funny, but the kids were horrified. You just don't expect someone to do that in front of children."

Bruce, of Byron Crescent, is due to be sentenced this month.

A neighbour said yesterday:

"It seems likely she just did it for a dare or something.

"It will no doubt be embarrassing for her having to appear in court.

"I just hope she wears more clothes when she is sentenced."
