Murray tennis centre ditched

PLANS for a national tennis academy in Edinburgh were today said to have fallen through.

Last month it was revealed Olympic champion Andy Murray was ready to help fund a centre to train future stars. The favoured site was the former Dunfermline College of Education at Cramond.

But today his mother Judy Murray said they now wanted a smaller centre, preferably nearer their hometown, Dunblane. She said: “We looked very, very closely and for a long time at a site in Edinburgh but it was going to prove to be too expensive for us.”
