Murder victim’s family speaks out

The family of a murdered shopkeeper has spoken of the trauma caused by his death.

Javaid Ali was attacked two weeks ago in Sunshine Grocers in Green Road, Paisley.

He died in the town’s Royal Alexandra Hospital on Friday.

The 48-year-old was married and had three sons.

His family said: “Javaid was a wonderful father and husband and a great friend to many.

“His loss is devastating for us and it will take a very long time for us to accept it. It is the nature of his death that is so traumatic for us to deal with.

“We would urge people with any kind of information to come forward and speak to the police.”

Police have said they are treating Mr Ali’s death as murder. Officers are reviewing CCTV and carrying out door-to-door inquiries into the incident, which happened on 15 June at about 5pm.
