MSP to meet top officer
COMMUNITY Safety Minister Roseanna Cunningham was this afternoon due to meet the UK Community Cop of the Year during a visit to Dalkeith police station.
Sergeant Scott Meechan won the accolade at the Janes Police Review gala awards last year, beating officers from 36 other police forces across the United Kingdom.
He was recognised for spearheading a drive to revamp a run-down village hall in Pathhead, Midlothian, by engaging the local population to help renovate the building.
The project led to a dramatic reduction in antisocial behaviour, which had been a problem in the area.
