MSP rubbishes plans for bins

lothians MSP Gavin Brown has questioned plans to axe weekly bin collections in the Capital.

Household bins will be picked up every fortnight under a city council move to save money and encourage people to recycle more.

But Conservative MSP Mr Brown said: “I don’t think this has been thought through and I don’t think the needs of householders have been put at the top of the agenda.

“I am concerned that introducing such a drastic measure so quickly could lead to overflowing bins and flytipping.

“I also have serious doubts as to whether the projected cost savings would actually happen in reality.

“All in all, this is a move the majority of constituents will be strongly against.”
