Movies free at Filmhouse for St Andrew's Day
CLASSIC Scottish films can be seen free of charge when a cinema opens its doors to celebrate St Andrew's Day.
The Filmhouse is screening a series of iconic films on Sunday, 29 November from 11:15am. These include Mrs Brown, starring Billy Connolly and Dame Judi Dench, The Flying Scotsman and the 1945 classic, I Know Where I'm Going!
There will also be the rare opportunity to see a collection of short "cinematic gems" released from the Scottish Screen Archive, dating back to 1928.
Culture minister Mike Russell said: "St Andrew's Day is a day to celebrate all that is great about Scotland – our culture, our heritage, our innovations and our people.
"These classic and inspirational films which portray fictional and true-life stories, truly capture the essence of all that is great about Scotland."
Filmhouse chief executive Ginnie Atkinson said: "It is fantastic to be able to give cinemagoers the opportunity to see all of these popular Scottish films free."
Tickets are available from today at the box office, restricted to four per person.
