Mother of Crags death son supports national missing people charity cycle

THE mother of a missing man whose remains were found on Arthur’s Seat in March met with cyclists ahead of a marathon 300-mile charity challenge.

Elizabeth Templeton’s son, Alan, was discovered by a hillwalker on Salisbury Crags five years after he disappeared. She spoke with a team of cyclists ahead of an Edinburgh to London challenge in aid of charity Missing People, with whom she now works.

The group left the Point Hotel in the city last weekend en route for Richmond in London. The event has been organised by London-based cycle event company Ride2Raise and Missing People, with riders aiming to raise around £15,000 for the charity.

A Charity Hero award was presented by Ride2Raise managing director Richard King on behalf of the Point Hotel to Lyn Hair, manager of Sunflower Garden, a charity which works hard to improve the lives of children affected by drug and alcohol misuse in their families within the city of Edinburgh.

Despite terrible weather and gruelling 100-mile per day expeditions, the team completed the challenge successfully and were greeted by cheering crowds at Richmond Green.

Rita Palmer, mayor of Richmond, and Martin Houghton-Brown, chief executive of Missing People, were among the waiting crowds.
