More Borgen screenings to meet demand

IT was supposed to be a one-off special screening as a treat for fans – but now it seems to have settled in for a residency.

The Filmhouse put tickets on sale at the weekend for a showing of the final two episodes from series two of Danish political drama series Borgen, with main star Sidse Babett Knudsen due to make an appearance.

But the “sold out” signs went up within hours as fans flocked for tickets.

Now the Lothian Road cinema has been forced to add two extra screenings after being overwhelmed by demand.

And Knudsen, who plays fictional Danish Prime Minister Birgitte Nyborg in the series, which is broadcast on BBC Four, has agreed to hold question and answer sessions after each screening on February 3.

Borgen follows Birgitte Nyborg, the surprise winner of the Danish prime ministerial elections, as she struggles to juggle the country and her personal life.

Tickets to the new screening went on sale at midday.

A statement on the Filmhouse website said: “Due to huge demand for tickets, we have added an extra screening of Borgen plus Q&A.”
