Men in hospital after crash

Two men were being treated in hospital for serious injuries after the car they were in crashed into a lamppost.

Emergency services were called to the crash in Newbattle Road, Dalkeith, Midlothian, yesterday afternoon.

The car roof was cut off to free the 36-year-old driver, while the 17-year-old passenger managed to escape from the vehicle without assistance.

They were both taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. A spokeswoman for the fire service said their injuries were serious but not life threatening.
