Mela drama leads to show cancellation
A CIRCUS performance at the Edinburgh Mela was cancelled last night after technical problems with equipment used by acrobats.
The show, put on by performance group UpSwing, includes complicated aerial moves, and organisers said they could not be sure the equipment was up to the job, but they hoped to be on stage for their show tonight.
A spokesman said: "Aerial work is extremely complex and difficult. There was an equipment problem on Friday that we were not able to resolve, but we fully expect to resolve it."
Ticket holders for last night's show can get a full refund from the ticket office or will be allowed into tonight's show, taking a free guest with them. The festival in Leith runs until tomorrow.
