Medieval day at Lothian castle

VISITORS tried their hand at medieval games and created their own masterpiece with the help of a professional artist during a special event in East Lothian at the weekend.

Dirleton Castle, one of the oldest surviving castles in Scotland, provided a stunning backdrop for a day of games, such as archery, and crafts on Sunday.

Gillian Urquhart, events manager at Historic Scotland, said: “It was a really good afternoon despite the rain. Families enjoyed discovering who was the best archer amongst them and the children were kept busy making their own colourful piece of art. We hope to run the event again next year.”
